Early morning and nearly chilled to the bone, we woke to a new side of Yellowstone. A side of the park filled with fog and simple songs from a thousand different birds. We had a quick bite to eat and packed our things to go explore the southwest side of the park.
We woke up to a chilly cabin. We’re talking like 50 degrees.
Our first stop was a walk through the Gibbon Geyser Basin, Biscuit Basin, and Lower Geyser Basin. It was a lot of basin, all at once.
And then boom, we crossed the Continental Divide like it was no big thing. Special note: it is a big thing!
We drove south through Grand Teton National Park and spotted our first moose.
After the Tetons we stopped for a quick bite for lunch in Jackson. We couldn’t get back on the road without some coffee so we swung by Pearl Street Bagels for a cup to go.
Later that day another pleasant surprise happened. We passed briefly (and unexpectedly) into Idaho but we didn’t see a single damn potato.
Next thing you know, we crossed into Utah for the first time and made our way to our campsite on Antelope Island smack dab in the middle of the Great Salt Lake.
LESSONS LEARNED:

Hmmm…maybe we should’ve studied that map and read up on the parks a little more before we left? Oh well…it just means more surprises and who doesn’t love a surprise?!

Antelope Island ROCKS!
