Another year, another cross country road trip. That’s just how we roll. After two years in a row of traveling the United States and visiting national parks, major cities, and roadside rarities we decided to pack up and head out on the road for a third time.

Apparently we really, really, REALLY love diners because we didn’t even make it out of our own town before stopping for one. They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and who are we to argue with that!

We set out on our normal route and passed through Illinois for our annual dinner at Schooner’s Restaurant in Peoria. Three years, three fish sandwiches. This stop is a great way to start a road trip.

A little further down the road we crossed into LeClaire, IA to stop by the Antique Archaeology shop. Christy was pretty bummed that Mike wasn’t there, but we still had fun snooping around the property.

We drove into the night along the Iowa highways and eventually made it to West Des Moines. After finding a comfy hotel, we decided to kick back and get some rest for another big day of driving. Okay, actually we jumped on the beds like little kids and stayed up all night watching cable TV…we don’t get luxuries like that too often so we enjoy them as much as we can!
